Callum Turner Reportedly Leads the Race to Be the Next Bond

Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley

The internet thinks it has found its next James Bond. Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley are being widely reported online as the new 007 and lead Bond girl in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming film. However, the full story is less settled than the headlines suggest.

Where the Turner Report Came From

On November 2, Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman, the reporter who broke the news of Daniel Craig’s casting back in 2005, wrote that “word on the street” is that Turner is the next Bond. He did not name a source. Turner, known for Masters of the Air and the Fantastic Beasts films, has been among the favourites for months and was reportedly one of the final actors to screen test, alongside Jack Lowden.

He also has a famous fan. Pierce Brosnan, who played his father in The Only Living Boy in New York, told Vanity Fair, “Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong.”

What About Margaret Qualley?

The claim pairing Turner with Qualley spread from a viral social media post credited to Deadline, but no matching Deadline report has surfaced. Qualley, star of The Substance, has led bookmakers’ odds to be the next Bond girl, with BetOnline giving her a 33 percent chance. The two are also reportedly lined up to star together in a remake of the 1981 horror film Possession, which may explain why their names keep appearing side by side.

Nothing Official Yet

Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed any casting and says it won’t comment on details while the search is underway. Villeneuve is directing from a script by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, with production expected to begin in 2027 ahead of a planned 2028 release. Until the studio makes an announcement, Turner remains the frontrunner, not the new 007.
