Sadie Sink Says Her New Year’s Resolution Is to Get More Hobbies, as Her Ideal Day Off Is Spent Inside Just Watching TV

Sadie Sink smiling on the red carpet

Sadie Sink may be one of the busiest young actors in Hollywood, but her idea of a perfect day off is refreshingly simple: stay in, put the TV on and do absolutely nothing.

“I’m a Pretty Boring Person”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter as Stranger Things headed into its final episodes, Sink was asked what her ideal day away from work looks like. “I’m a pretty boring person,” she admitted. “I think my New Year’s resolution is to get more hobbies because I could just spend a day inside just watching TV and rotting.”

She isn’t apologizing for it, though. Sink explained that she has justified the downtime because life on set is so social: you are constantly around people and giving so much of yourself, not only in your performance but behind the scenes too. “It can be super overstimulating,” she said. “For every day on set, for me, I need a week or at least three or four days where I’m just doing nothing.”

Finding the Balance

The comments have been doing the rounds again online, where plenty of fans have called it one of the most relatable things a star has said in a long time.

It makes sense given her schedule. After nearly a decade playing Max Mayfield on Stranger Things, Sink stepped into Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In the same interview she said she wants to keep balancing big, long-term projects with smaller work, especially theater, because that is where she feels she learns the most.

If the resolution works out, she might pick up a hobby or two this year. Until then, a few days on the couch between shoots sounds well earned.
