Adam DeVine and Sarah Hyland became one of Modern Family‘s most popular pairings as Andy Bailey and Haley Dunphy. But it turns out the two had a connection long before they ever shared a scene.
An Omaha Coincidence
DeVine grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where his neighbours happened to be Hyland’s aunt and uncle. That means the two actors were linked years before Hollywood brought them together, in a coincidence that only became funny in hindsight.
Andy and Haley
DeVine joined the show in 2014 as Andy, the sweet and slightly hapless ‘manny’ hired to look after Joe. His chemistry with Haley quickly turned their will-they-won’t-they romance into one of the show’s most talked-about storylines, and fans were invested right until the end.
The two clearly enjoyed working together too. As we reported earlier, they were so invested in Haley and Andy’s love story that they made their scenes more dramatic.
