Marvel Is Reportedly in Talks With a New Actor to Take On the Role of Wolverine in the MCU

The hunt for the MCU’s next Wolverine may already be underway. According to a new report from insider CartierFilms, Marvel Studios is in talks with an actor to take over the role of Logan, and he could make his debut in a project built around Alpha Flight.

The actor’s name has not been revealed, and Marvel has not commented. As with any casting scoop, it is worth treating as a rumor until the studio makes it official.

Why Alpha Flight Makes Sense

If the report is accurate, it would be a clever way in. Alpha Flight is Canada’s premier superhero team in the comics, and Logan’s Canadian roots and history with the government program behind it make him a natural link. Launching the new Wolverine there, rather than in a big ensemble X-Men movie, would give Marvel room to establish its own version of the character before he joins the rest of the mutants.

It also fits earlier chatter. Back in August, scooper MyTimeToShineHello claimed Marvel was casting the MCU Wolverine “but NOT for what you think,” which led fans to suspect the character would debut somewhere other than the X-Men reboot.

Life After Hugh Jackman

Whoever lands the part will have enormous claws to fill. Hugh Jackman played Logan for 17 years, from X-Men in 2000 to Logan in 2017, then came back for Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024, which became one of the biggest R-rated films ever. That film even teased alternate Wolverines, including Henry Cavill’s brief “Cavillrine” cameo, which still has fans campaigning for him.

For now, Marvel is keeping its cards close. But if talks really are happening, the next Wolverine could be announced sooner than anyone expected.
