The Batman Part II Filming Paused After Cast Member Is Hit by the Batmobile

The Batman Part II has hit another bump on its long road to theaters. According to The Sun, filming was paused earlier this month after a cast member was struck by the Batmobile while shooting an action sequence.

The actor, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to hospital and is now recovering at home. The good news is that production has already resumed.

A Sequel That Keeps Hitting Obstacles

It’s the latest hurdle for Matt Reeves’ long-awaited follow-up. Reeves recently stepped away from set to deal with a family matter, and Steven Soderbergh has been helping to finish the final weeks of filming, working from Reeves’ plans. Reeves has been clear about one thing, though: he is “not leaving The Batman Part II.”

Fans have learned to be patient with this one. The sequel has already seen its release date move more than once, as Reeves took his time getting the script right before cameras rolled.

Why Fans Care So Much

Robert Pattinson returns as the Caped Crusader in the sequel to 2022’s The Batman, which reinvented Bruce Wayne as a brooding young detective in a rain-soaked, corrupt Gotham. The first film was a major hit with critics and audiences, and its world kept growing with HBO’s The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobb.

That success is exactly why every production update gets so much attention. Reeves’ Gotham is set apart from the wider DC Universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran are building, giving the director room to tell his own grounded crime story.

Practical action has always been part of the appeal too. The original film’s Batmobile chase, with the car bursting through a wall of flames, became one of its most talked-about sequences, so it’s no surprise the sequel is shooting big vehicle stunts again.

For now, The Batman Part II is still set for release on February 18, 2028. Here’s hoping the rest of the shoot goes smoothly, and that the Batmobile stays on its marks.
