Seinfeld: How Did George Costanza Get All Those Women?

Even 36 years later fans can’t get enough of Jerry Seinfeld and his group. But one of the characters unexpectedly continues to garner more love day by day and fans discover more details about him. While every character in the show is funny, you are sure to laugh harder when Jerry’s lovable, but diabolical, sidekick, George Costanza is on screen. Jason Alexander is known for many roles in his long career, from Asher Friedman on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to his latest as Ted in The Electric State. He briefly also played himself on Curb Your Enthusiasm, but his role as George Costanza on Seinfeld has been a fan favorite. The character is known for a lot of his mishaps throughout the long run of the show, but the fan following for his romantic relationship has a different subreddit of its own.

George is quite known on the internet as somewhat of a mystery in the relationship department. For a man who has done very little for himself, lives with his parents and isn’t the best-looking of the lot. He still managed to date over thirty women? There are countless articles across the internet discussing and ranking his date, but how did he manage to land them? He is more or less the existentially sad unfortunate loser as compared to Jerry’s winning and charming personality but George still thrives more than others in the romance department.

George Costanza — The Mystery

George struggles in every single episode of the show, with his parents, and his dating life. He even has trouble holding down a job. But to the viewers it makes him relatable, even in today’s time. His struggles make his constant need to share this every though and move more enjoying to watch. At first glance, George can be annoying, but the more you get to know the character the more you begin to appreciate it and laugh at his jokes too. He is the kind of character that grows on you.

George plays a meaningful part in the show and has a strong arc. For a show about nothing happening, he does go through major changes in life. His family, relationship and job problems also make him relatable. Jerry has a ton of money, he lives in a nice and spacious apartment, and he seems to have a successful dating life. On the other hand, “George makes horrible decisions, is more down on his luck, bad relationship with his parents.” He feels more realistic as a character and the down moments in his life also leave fans with something to learn.

Some fans even called George “the imperfect ‘every man'” and “voice and personification of frustration and annoyance.” Others said it is comforting watching George go through these struggles. Meanwhile, it is also Jason Alexander’s performance that left fans in awe. His take on George is a unique yet utterly repulsive character and unmissable. It is unlikely that such a performance for a long series like Seinfeld can be topped in today’s time. His performance as Costanza still gets funnier and better with every viewing of the show. A fan said, “He’s been the bad date, the bad house guest, the bad employee and the bad tipper. But he somehow turned all of that into a great character.”

George Costanza Dating All These Women Is Hard To Believe

Unlike Kramer or Jerry, George would not be funny in real life. He is the literal opposite of societal standards and definition of an attractive, appealing or entertaining man. George is short, bald, slow-witted, petty, and the most neurotic person you’d ever meet, IRL or in fiction. George also insults people a lot on Seinfeld, additionally, he also likes to plot and plan and lie a lot. One of George’s most unforgettable lies is pretending to be Art Vanderlay. But fans still think he has the best moments on screen, one Redditor said, “His lines are the ones that I quote the most, his scenes are the ones that make me laugh the most.”

Another added, “He has no moral boundaries and will lie to anyone about anything but there’s something charming about this that makes his scenes fun to watch.” This is also now the show has described one of its most loved characters. Often the show went out of its way to prove how uncool George was and his actions often made in the loser of the group. For seasons George did not have a job and lived with his parents as a man in his 40s. Despite all of this, he was the most narcissistic character of the bunch, at least by a big margin.

What comes as a relief is that the women he dated in the show were as big a maniac as he was. From a woman who needs to pronounce everyone’s full name and ends up saying “Papia Mache” instead of Papier Mache to another woman who eerily resembles Jerry. George has dated women who as as weird and unique as he was.

Why We Think Ladies Loved George

George did go a long way to land some of these dates. The only way he managed to go out with Mary Anne was by pretending to be a tourist. He could have cleared the misunderstanding but he tells her he’s from Arkansas and works for the Tyler Chicken company. He even offers to move to New York for her, despite Mary believing the city will eat him alive.

Meanwhile, a Reddit user said, George’s reckless abandonment makes him look extremely confident at times. The user added, “He is capable as hell at charming women when he wants to. He knows he’s going to ruin it all later, but when he’s on, he’s on, baby.” George also often insults himself and doesn’t seem to have much confidence but once you get to know him he is charming and endearing. It makes you want to root for him, and hope that he finds dating and career success. Maybe the ladies in the fictional world feel sympathy too.

Yes, George Costanza’s Fashion Game Is Important

Among the entire main cast of the show, George does often come up top when its about his fashion sense. Over the years, fans even have come to recognise him as a style icon. His outfits maintain a classical business style, often contrasting with Jerry’s more garish color schemes and Kramer’s bohemian and vintage looks. George constantly juggles between several looks and pairs them to their best ability, from Ivy League looks, Preppy to Trad. Throughout all the seasons of the show, George Costanza consistently cultivated a style that doesn’t fit into the traditional sense but a style that is only for him. And that is why he looks so good in it. He has a sporty Ivy style with comfortability, uniqueness, and personality and these resonate best in today’s time, making George even more of a style icon than the showmakers, or the actor intended at the time.
